TOB

Postby Greg » Thu May 13, 2004 8:55 am

I finally found time to replace my TOB, I went ahead and put another new style bearing in. I'll report on the results as soon as I fire up the tractor. My question is: Can I run the tractor w/o connecting the hydraulic lines? It would sure simplify things if I have to split it again not to have to drain the hydraulic fluid. Will I damage the hydraulic pump by running it a 5-10min w/o the lines/fluid in place? Thanks as always.

Yes, you can damage the pump that way. If you need to run the engine without hooking up the hydraulic lines, remove the pump. It is only 2 bolts. Very little oil will be thrown out the pump opening. If you are going to run the tractor any amount without the pump, cut a temporary pump opening cover out of cardboard.
