Farmall Cub

Yesterday I was giving the cub a work out in the heat. And the pressure fitted plug on the top of the hydraulic block popped right out. Luckily I found it. Whats up with that?

Since nobody else commented, I guess it is time for a serious answer. I think you are refering to one of the "freeze" plugs. I have never seen a problem with the one on top of the block, and rerely seen one cause a problem otherwise. (mostly ones in water jackets that rust out).

I think it just opens into the reservoir and doesn't have hydraulic pressure against it. Seems that for it to come loose, it must have just not been set tight enough in the first place. I would prefer to use a new one, but if you can't easily get a new one, I would consider reusing the old one. Give it a close inspection, and if the edges are all smooth and the old dent is well centered, it may reuse OK.

Make sure the groove it rests in is perfectly clean. Set it back in place and give it a good smack in the center. I prefer to place something like a small ball peen hammer against the center of the plug and hit it with a bigger hammer. I don't have a good enough aim to do without and a hammer head is more blunt than a punch.
