I recently posted some photos of my '55 Loboy, and Paul K asked if I had the vented gas cap in addition to the non-vented one shown in the photos. I didn't know I even needed a vented cap, and Rudi sent me a link for an order form for the free one. Well, I got looking at mine today, and it sure looks like a vented cap to me, but "what do I know?" Here 'tis, and lemme know...

It is a vented cap but they are known to plug up over the years. They also leak gas while hitting bumps or are on slopes. Use the new one if you have one.

The replacemnet one looks like the top from a can of spray paint, but is safer.

Jeff:

That is the original. Great for a static display in a show - but if you move the tractor it should have the new gas cap.

Have a look at Ellie-Mae. She sports the new cap. :D It is still black, haven't gotten around to painting it yet.

Fill out the form and send it in. We would all feel a lot safer if you had the new safer gas cap. Don't need to hear that your cap leaked :( and something bad happened.

I have the original cap on my '49. Initially it was a leaker, but I found the problem to be the gasket was all dried up and not sealing anymore. Cut out a new gasket and no more leaking.

One problem I have is the lack of any serial number on my '67 Lo. The usual spot on the engine has no number stamped in, just a flat surface. Also the engine block part number was modified. Someone ground off part of the number and stamped in a new one. I would like to order a new type cap for both Cubs but with no available serial # on the Loboy I'm not sure what else they would accept. The '49 will be no problem. I cannot procrastinate this much longer as Rudi pointed out there will soon be a cut-off date.

EZ, Do what I did, I found some old Cub carcases on a ranch and used the serial numbers from them which added 2-extra caps for me. I got 3-caps total with My Cubs number included.

Remember, the same cap is used on A, B, C, H, and M, plus more, so you can get creative.
