wheel moves sideways

Postby rosco » Mon Jun 14, 2004 5:37 pm

Alright guy's help me out, I am new at this tractor work and the 65 cub started to make squeeking noises in the final drive. I can take the rear wheel by my hands on each side and move it side ways and it makes a loud squeeking noise. Is this something that I can fix or is this a pro's job. amd what might it be? Any and all help please.

I got all in a panic thinking I was going to have to put bearings in the final drive of our A. Got it all jacked up, ready to start dismantleing, and luckily found that it was just the bolts that hold the rim to the wheel center!! You may be that lucky too!

OK, that's likely axle bearings. You should be able to tackle that yourself. Take a look at the service manual on Rudi's site. It should give a pretty good outline of the job.
