Cub PTO

hello, again.

i was wondering about the cub's PTO. I've seen on some posts that it turns the opposite way and at a higher rpm. why is that? Did Farmall design it that way so only cub PTO implements could be run, or did it have to be that way because of the transmission or something...or was the 540 rpm pto not too common then? Just wondering. Also, I've never really been on a cub or close enough to one to know where all the controls are. Where do you engage the PTO? and where are the Touch control lever/s? If anyone knows of links to pictures of close ups that would be cool.

thanks Again.

Cubkid, look for a post by Rudi. At the bottom of his post is a link to a site with cub manuals. There are some pictures there as well as those in the photo albums on the home page of this site. The manuals will have some diagrams on the systems you asked about. If you study them you will be ahead of the game when you see or operate a cub for the first time.
The information on the pto is correct. It is a straight through drive which rotates the same direction and speed as the engine crankshaft. The diameter of the shaft is also non-standard.
