Farmall Cub

Are you going to make 3 rows at a time or 2 with the other shovel in the last furrow to gauge width? I use a single small shovel on the rear middlebuster frame to lay off rows. Whole garden will have about 14 rows. You must be planning on planting BIG,LOL!

Both, Dan, I can make 3 furrows, and , if I need more, I can overlap the third furrow, to add 2 more. Ed

I plant most every thing with the 172 planter and hill up the rest with the disc hillers, By way of the tire tracks with out any back feet, but my brother uses the back feet to lay off his rows 2 at a time it works very well.

Pretty cool looking rig. Getting ready to try rigging an old Avery horse drawn planter on the back of mine. Hopefully can do it without destroying both the tractor and planter. Firm believer in the bigger hammer principle

I like the 3 Row Furrow Tool Very very idea. Very nicely done btw and it as has been said looks almost OEM I likes it

We do it more like David - mostly cause that is how Em learned and well -- I is a good boy and listen to da boss We lay out the rows with the tractor - start on the right side of the field using the side as the guide (middle of the Cub) then just follow the tracks. Lay down fertilizer, then plant taters then hill all the rows which is the tire tracks. Idealy the top of the row will be the middle of the track. After that flatten the top of the rows not yet planted, plant then re-hill to cover the seed. That is how Em prefers to do it, but it takes a lot of labour. Want to find a way to do it with the Cub, less labour and more toys... So I guess I need a planter.

Rudi, you can make the furrows, using the furrow tool. drop your potatoes in, by hand, and cover with hillers. A fertilizer topdresser, would save some labor. Ed

One of the top priority items on my wish list is a Cub-53A/B/C & Cub-54A Fertilizer Attachments 4-31-48, cause that would really save a lot of work. I am finally getting this cultivating thing down and I can see how side dressing would really make a difference.
