Yes, John, what a great story, I hope there is more coming! All the old timers around here say that green worked okay for pullying, but when it come to belt work, there was no comparison IH all the way! This is because with those two lungs there was so much vibration that the front ends had a tendency to bounce of the ground constanly. This would cause the belt to slap terribly on occasion. They also said that about rubber tired threshers, they bounced to much with the vibration.

Are you looking for another project?
I might be able to, I have 2 cousins that started to restore it aobut 2 years ago but haven't made much progress. Right at present I have 2 problems, 1- lack of money (been on 1/2 wages for 8 months), and 2 - lack of physical ability to do the work.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Hey John,
I have been lurking!!!!
I was sooo proud of your article in RPM I will be bringing it to CUBARAMA
for an original autograph. Only those who have worked with an old "H"
can truly appreciate your article. This is especially true for you and having
had such a wonderful relationship with your dad.
I certainly hope your M-I-L continues to improve. I hope you are getting
better yourself.
Bud and CUB BUD were over the other day and Bud noticed my shiny
funnel prominently displayed on a 16d nail driven into a pole support
of my tractor shed.
I thank you again for it and all the other things.

Thanks Russ. I drove that H, and later the second one we purchased from the time I was big enough to slide off the seat and hit the pedals until I moved to another part of the state. I've spent more hours on one than I can count. Dad was a good mechanic and a firm believer that the equipment should always be ready to use. When you went to get on a tractor or hitch up a piece of machinery you knew it was ready, and that you wouldn't have to work on it before you started out.
Dad was doing some custom baling with his (old even then) New Holland 77T baler when he broke a bull gear. We drove home, took one off a parts baler, and had it reinstalled and back baling in about 2 1/2 hours. Jess (owner of farm where we were baling) said he thought the only way you could stop Dad from finishing something he started would be to take a rear wheel off the tractor, and then he wasn't sure that would stop him. He was probably right, we kept a spare rear wheel with mounted tire.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

John:
can't wait to read the article! Unfortunately, it will probably be August before I get my issue. I finally got the May/June issue just a couple of days before CubFest
I don't know what it is with mail/delivery from stateside. It is almost as if we were 10,000 miles away from the states instead of a hop and a small skip with no jump

Got home from shopping at Alton's.... got some good buys. Pics as soon as they are available -- some surprises!
Checked the post box for my newspaper and mail. Lo and behold, shocked me senseless, the only mail I had today was my new issue of RPM!
Wow! Somebody at Canada Post must have heard me muttering under me breath!
Now I get to see the pics John!
