Dan, open the distributor and remove the internal mag coil primary wire. Mount the external coil close to the mag. You'll need to change from a kill switch to a standard electrical switch. You can use a push-pull, toggle or key type switch. Run a wire from the battery negative line - (you can pick this up from the back of the ammeter) to one terminal on the switch, then from the switch's other terminal to the negative primary terminal on the coil. Then run a wire from the coil + terminal to the stud on the side of the distributor. Remove the wire that ran to the kill switch when you make that last connection. Plug your mag high voltage line into the coil secondary.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
