Length of Exhaust Pipe?

Postby Paul_NJ » Sun Jul 11, 2004 10:43 pm

I remember someone asked this question before, but search as I may I couldn't find it.

I wish to make a new (vertical, not underslung) exhaust pipe out of 1" stainless pipe (between manifold and muffler). I recall someone suggested two lengths - standard, which was pretty tall, and a shorter length which they preferred. Now that my Cub is being reassembled after it has been apart for 2 years, I can't remember what it used to look like.

I'd appreciate someone measuring theirs . . . . thanks!

I would also suggest using a high temp anti-seize on the threads.

If you put a pipe wrench on the pipe in the area that is hidden under the hood, any bite marks won't show.

Paul:

  Oooops!

I forgot to mention it myself, so thank God YD did :!: :!: You gotta use Anti-sieze on them thar threads. I had to get the exhaust pipe on Ellie taken out with a torch - looks like I am gonna have to do the same thing with Granny and Jethro. Both pipes are almost welded to the manifold   ..... so don't forget the paste :!:

Hi Rudi,

I would try putting the manifold in the Electrolysis vat for about 3 days
and then put KROIL on it. You just might be suprised :o :o :o :o

I've noticed several times on this forum the mention of a derusting tank system. How does this work and what chemical is used.

Thanks Mike

Mike; if you go to Rudi's site (it's listed in the announcements at the top of this page), Jim Becker's article on electrolysis is there.

IMHO, as essential in tractor restoration as IH2150 :!:
