Is this a Lowboy? (what constitutes a Lowboy?)

We need to get rid of this old Farmall but now that I've done some research, I'm wondering if it's a Lowboy or not.

How can you tell if it's a Lowboy? :?:

I guess I should have done more research prior to listing it but didn't know of this form until after I posted the ad. The prospective buyer told me about this site.

Yes, it's a lowboy. The two implements (loader and trencher) separately are worth more than the tractor. You would make far more money if would list them separately.

Thanks. I had no idea the loader & trencher were worth more.
The engine runs but the starter is erratic.
Leaky hydraulic line caused us to chain up the loader so it doesn't drag.
I don't want to disassemble & part out so I'll just leave it the way it is.

How about this, buy a loader & trencher-get a free tractor! :D

Separating them would probably not have worked out that well. Once the trencher is on a tractor, it is petty well permanent. Not only is removing it a lot of work, you would have had to go out and buy parts to have a complete tractor once the trencher was removed. Either that or you end up with an incomplete trencher or both. The loader would be less of a problem but it would still be easy to leave pieces on the tractor, which could really hack off the buyer.

I couldn't read the serial number plate in the picture, but based on your posted number it is a '63. The actual model designation for this tractor would be "International Cub Lo-Boy". It would not have been called a Farmall.

Did you give the castings a pretty good inspection for cracks? Most likely places are:
1) right side of block, high, just ahead of the oil filter (freeze crack)
2) right side of block, in corner at lower radiator pipe (stress crack)
3) top of head (freeze crack)
4) radiator base, front edge, visible with grill removed (freeze crack)
5) bell housing/torque tube, area near bolts at rear flange (stress crack, seen on trencher tractors).

Nice setup. Geesh, sure would be nice to find stuff like that up here, but not too likely. Whoever gets it will be a lucky fellow. Sure hope it is one of you all on the board 8)

Erik, to answer the last part of your question, a lo-boy is a standard cub with shorter front spindles and the final drives turned forward rather than down, which results in it setting closer to the ground.

Donny is probably 50 or 60 miles closer to it than I am. I hope to keep him distracted for a week or so with a cultivator, blade or something.
