Farmall Cub

Would someone be kind enough to give me a lesson on wheel weights.
have 58 cub used only for mowing had weights on when I got it .
I just bought a 59 loboy without weights. I plan to mow with this one and put snow plow and chains on for winter. My question is do I need weights for mowing only or snow plowing or both? I understand rear weights add traction But what do front weights do? I was offered rear weights for 75.00 this did not sound to bad to me any idea what they weigh? Unless you are mowing on a lot of hills, you shouldn't need wheel weights for mowing. In fact, if the ground is a little soft, not having weights can be beneficial as it will reduce ruts. However, for snow plowing, wheel weights are almost essential. Front weights will increase steering traction especially with rear mounted equipment which makes the front end light. Rear weights run about 135 to 140 lbs. Fronts are about 35 lbs.

Yup, wheel weights are a definite asset. For $75.00 go get em fast before somebody else finds out about them.

The rear wheel weights weigh approximately 150 lbs apiece and the front wheel weights weigh approximately 25 lbs apiece.

Do not attempt plowing snow without both front and rear weights.

The front weights help in stability and to keep the front end firmly on terra fima when you have implements on and they are very, very useful.

As for weights whilst mowing, you already have that answer. I would have thought that they would not be needed if you are using a belly mower, but I would definitely use them with the sickle mower.
