Super A seal

Postby Deane » Wed Jul 21, 2004 9:05 am

Posted this on another board and got no response. Can someone help me out. B.I.L.'s tractor, no manuals. Thanks

I keep ordering(twice) IH288864R93 seal for a super a. They sent both times National 410083. I got the following info from a previous post. I need the seal that stays on the tractor when the final drive is removed. You have to take out 3 bolts to remove it. What do I need to order?
National seal numbers:

Final drive seal-- 410083, IH 71597 C91
Differential seal--- 410060 SSR, IH 288864 R93
Pinion cover gasket --- IH 1342398C1

I'm not very familiar with Super A, but it's design is similiar to a cub, and the seal that stays with the rear end housing on it is the differential seal, which is inside the retainer you take off with 3 bolts.

You can get manuals from http://www.binderbooks.com

I think the seal you need is called: OIL SEAL, Differential ball bearing retainer. The IH number is 46 282 D, with numbers 358 773 R91, and 358 813 R91 listed as optional. There is what looks like an O-Ring in there, too, it is number 355 740 R1. (This may be a snap ring, it has been awhile since I had one apart). These numbers are from TC-39C page 169-170 reference numbers 26 (seal) and 27 (o-ring). Go to any Case/IH dealer or call Bermuda Ken at Carter and Gruenewald (1-866-FARMALL). He will have or can get the seals and will ship them to you. They are a great dealer to work with. Good Luck.

Deane:

If you go to the Cub Manual server at the link below, the Super A and Super AV Owner's Manual, Special Attachments Manual and the TC-39B Parts Manual are there as well.

Hope this might help a bit.
