Engine Rebuild Information

Postby Dave.49.cub » Tue Aug 31, 2004 2:59 pm

Hey All,

I want to rebuild the engine in this 1952 Cub I just bought and am looking for any tips, manuals, comments, gotchas or anything else that would help do this right.

Are there any good engine rebuild manuals? I have bought the standard set from Binder Books.

All comments appreciated.

There is a good Video that is available through Valu-Bilt Tractor Parts (http://www.valu-bilt-com). They are also a good source of manuals and parts (new and rebuilt).

Dave:

The Manual Server has most of the info that you need. Check out the maintenance tips and techniques link and some judicious questions should be sufficient.

Remember, if possible, please take pics of your restore and make notes -- I certainly would like to have a documented restore with pics and a narrative to post on the server.......

Have fun, cause it will be

let me know how getting the pully on and off is - it has been a bear for us. THere are post here about it, wish I would of read them first, as we broke a chunk off the pully using a gear puller - the pulley didn't fare too well going back on either.

mymariah:

Bill Van Hooser wrote an excellent article on this very subject. Crankshaft Pulley Removal.

This should help you out some.

Best thing for you to do now is to take the pulley off again, and replace it with one that isn't missing any pieces....

Chown Tractor Parts
JP Tractor Salvage
Tm Tractor Parts

should have what you will need.
