After much searching,I came across a union that joins two threaded rods together. It is almost perfect. It comes 1 1/2 inches long and has to be cut down to an inch. The cost is less than $1.50 each. After cutting down, I cut off the end of a 5/16 grade 5 bolt and used loctight to bond it in the sleeve. It is a good fix for the hard to find originals.

Boss, I just got a 66 and I'm guessing that you may be talking about the area around the front headlight. The way the hood is pulled in, it has gone through my mind that some sort of spacer is missing. Just a wild guess???? Same thing? Thanks, Doug

My square front LowBoy has a piece of perferated mesh like that in a radiator enclosure. I bought a front from TM and a Frame (for lack of a better name, from Ralph and lowboy dog legs from TM. Never did install them but now I know I need 1 inch long 5/16 id spacers. Thank the lord for Fastenal. Now I know what to order.
Disclaimer I own Fastenal stock.

My square nose currently has a 6-point socket being used as a spacer on one side, and a stack of washers on the other.

Guess now I've got a reason to hit the local Ace hardware.
