Block Seal

Was in NAPA the other day and I came across a half-dozen products that said on the packaging they were for sealing up cracks in blocks.
All stated they were NOT to be added to anti-freeze. They said to drain/flush, and add this stuff with water and run the engine at idle for 30-45 minutes, then flush it real good again and let it sit for 24 hours.
Anybody tried this to fix a freeze-cracked front bolster?

Save your time and money. This is a band-aid not a fix.

Figured.
I already bought and installed the new bolster, but was wondering what to do with this cracked one, other than leave it out under a tree, anyway.

It will make a good boat anchor.

Well, if you saw my other post(s) about the mower deck, and the comment from another forum member about my boat, you'd notice that they've both been parked under the same tree all summer

Save the bolster. Some day when you find somebody who can weld cast iron properly, the crack can be fixed. I have seen at least a dozen with cracks where yours is in the last year and they have been running for years. George also has an example of one that was repaired properly and it looks as good as when they originally came out of the factory.
At least there will be one around to replace maybe the same part on another aquisition??? Also, they do have some resale value when repaired properly.

Also guys don't use this stuff if you plan to keep what ever you put it in as it will seal heater cores & rads. just as fast as the block.
God iv'e seen alot of this used In the 11 years I turned wrenches & it cost people more to replace things than it would have if they had just replaced what was the prob. to start with.
