That's probably because no southern Cub has ever won the Tug!
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Why insomnia and craigs list are bad. AKA my new cub.
Yea it was the one in Blue Ridge. I lived in Dahlonega for 4 1/2 years, and worked in Blairsville during most of my time in GA. When I saw Blue Ridge, I was laughing/groaning knowing the drive I had ahead of myself.
Yep again, I came up 575, I try an avoid Atlanta at all costs, 285 was bad, but the construction on 85 was a NIGHTMARE. Take a normal lane and put jersey baracades on the white lines of the 2 lanes. Me with a trailer thats about the widest you can tow legally, and it leaves next to no room for error. Add in stoooopid Atlanta drivers texting/eating/ doing God knows what else while driving made it a white knuckle drive.
Sorry JIm, not taking offers on it.
NO luck on the serial number plate, it's looong gone. The moss growing in it's place looks about a mid 60's vintage tho.
Any time any of the southern boys want to come take a look at it shoot me an email, but I can guar-o-tee it will be at Gary's cub fest in March, I might get shoot now if I didn't bring it.
It "runs" but it really won't go past 1/3 throttle, so It's gonna get a complete tune up/carb rebuild ASAP, and since the entire wiring/charging system is shot or questionable, I may convert to 12V for the time being since I have 99% of the parts to do it to make it a reliable runner. It looks like sometimes later on, it had the original carb replaced with a later model Zenith carb, because the carb almost swallows the intake. If that is the case, I might try and track down a number series manifold to take advantage of the larger carb.
If ya'll want any specific questions answered, or pictures take, fire away. This is obviously a rare cub, and finding out about these things to me is part of the fun.

I think you will find that the Zenith Carb has the bolts closer to the throat to fit the manifold and the manifold will be the same on the Cubs and also the number series. At least that is what I have found it to be.

Re: Why insomnia and craigs list are bad. AKA my new cub.
Ok. time for questions.
1) With the finals reversed, how are the brakes set up? Or, are these special finals?
2) Are the "spacers" between the axle and the first set of duals, or are they between the duals?
3) Are you the one with the cub from LSU?
BTW, GREAT FIND!! May have to show up at the La Cubfest to get a closer look.
Also, have seen reference to one other set up like that on the forum owned by a Rondel?? Believe that one had the mott flail on it.
Again, WELL DONE!!

Re: Why insomnia and craigs list are bad. AKA my new cub.
Number 1, the brake linkages are......interesting to say the least. The linkage comes off the petals and runs under the final drive, where it attaches to a bellcrank mounted on the bottom of a stock LoBoy final drive. The bellcrank has another linkage coming off it to the toggle on the brake band. I'll grab a picture and post it tomorrow, it will all be clear then.
Number 2. The dually spacers are bolted to the final drives directly, then the duals are mounted to it. 1 dished in towards the tractor, and 1 dished to the outside.
Number 3. Yep, Tiger the LSU cub is in my shed.
I was going to buy new tires for Tiger this week. But the long bar-short bar tires on Goliath are almost brand new, while the inners are a lot more worn, so I think Tiger will get the long bar-short bar tires. Later on I'll get 4 matching tires for Goliath, OCD thing for me, the non matching tires would drive me insane.
