I have no experience at all with a spray gun but I am very interested in getting some "shooting" time.

The acetone is readily available from many more sources than proprietary reducers... and less expensive. Quite a bit can be used to reduce the paint further for better automization since it is more volitile. It seems like much of it is already evaporated by the time the paint gets to the surface... so runs are less likely.

I can't say about that gun, but based on my experience with other Devilbiss guns, I'm sure it is of high quality.

There is one drawback with gravity feed guns... the difficulty re-filling them. Here's how I solved the problem with a much less expensive gun.

I see, so the biggest hassle is trying to "steady" the cup to re-fill, I presume that lid on top just threads off and you pour through the handy-dandy paint funnel do-hickey, and away you go. Looks good.

I haven't worked much with that type of gravity feed gun. I much prefer the older style, it is one I am used to.

However, if you can afford DeVilBliss then go for it. I have had mine for nigh on 20 years and it was over $300.00 then.... best gun I ever bought.

Although, you can use the Chicago brand as well. For an unassuming gun it is surprisingly good. Usually available at places like Princess or UAP/NAPA (auto paint shops especially) for between $50.00 and $100.00 Canadian.

Just another option.

Oh, don't forget to use the filter papers, they work well and are very cheap.

My buddy uses an old Mr. Coffee that his gun happens to fit under... He bored out a hole in the swing out filter holder and it works really well.

But he didn't have the cool "Ass Kickin' Peanut Brittle" can under his! :D:D
