Siphon?

Postby allenlook » Sat Sep 18, 2004 7:09 pm

BC,

Do you mean just keep siphoning the gas out, or somehow affix a hose to the sediment bowl fixture?

I think it would take more patience than I've got to siphon a gallon in and out a dozen times :D

Hook up to the sediment bowl outlet or wih the glass bowl off to the input to the bowl.

Gotcha, thanks!

Postby allenlook » Sat Sep 18, 2004 7:22 pm

Gotcha, thanks! I've got a piece of fuel line that should work OK.

I gotta figure out how that screen is supposed to be fit into the top of the sediment bowl... On top of, or below the cork gasket?

Allenlook,
As the bowl is mounted on the tractor the screen goes first then gasket then glass bowl.
Is this what you wanted to know?
If it's been broken I did it.
If its not broken wait till I touch it.

Yes.

Yes, when I put it on that way, I think the screen was getting in the way of the gasket making a good seal. It's kind of old and "disfigured" - something I can relate to personally after working on the farm all afternoon :D

So I put it underneath and it seems to be working OK but I'm worried about floating sediment getting by it and to the carb... Gonna have to spend a few hours on that one of these days!

Your going to have dirt get by it that way.
I have seen that you spent alot of money so far on this project so whats a few dollars more.

You can buy just the screen at TSC stores & NAPA should be able to get them also.

If its not broken wait till I touch it.

CaseIH or CNH has them as well. You can buy them separately too! Worht the money and the frustration to do it right.

Screen...

Postby allenlook » Sun Sep 19, 2004 6:30 pm

Is the screen attached to the cork gasket, or is it a separate item?

Thanks

Postby allenlook » Sun Sep 19, 2004 7:39 pm

Thanks Rudi, when I put the screen on top of the cork gasket, it leaks like a seive.

I can't get the little screen close enough back to "round" I guess... I'll have to pick one up when I'm over at Randall Equipment - gotta go pick up the hydraulic manifold gasket to cure a steady drip.

Again!?

Postby allenlook » Tue Sep 21, 2004 7:45 pm

Well, everything was great, I was doing some more mowing and dragging some steel parts out of the woods that I found today, when Jay started sputtering AGAIN?! :?

Got back to the barn, everything seemed OK, started mowing again, and he started sputtering AGAIN!

This time I'll check for sediment in the carb and get that screen in the sediment bowl replaced ASAP...

Oh, and I'll revert to step 1 :D
