Draggin' trees...

I found the perfect item tonight to drag these trees, so I won't have to worry so much about keeping the butt ends up off the ground. Piece of slippery plastic, sort of like the kind of "flexible toboggan" we used to use back in the day, I drilled two holes in it and put it over the drawbar and it hangs down to the ground and back several feet, so the stumps just slide right over the ground. Saves my grass from a real beating

I, for one, feel better already! I'm sure you just didn't realize you were flirting with disaster. If the trees were small enough, the danger may have been less, but the consequences could still be very bad.

I'm pleased you found a safer way.

Truth be told, the "trees" were 10-12 feet long mostly, probably only 3-4" at the butt, and I probably could have hauled them across the property one at a time by hand if the need were great enough, but using the tractor was too much fun!

I honestly don't think the chance of flipping the tractor was very great, if at all (and would have been more serious with the butts dragging amongst the roots on the ground), but I didn't want to seem to be questioning the wisdom of the list - because you'll always get that "it's never worth it..." response.

In the slightly more than 2 years that I have been on this list, (old and new format)I have NEVER seen a flame or anything more serious than some good natured ribbing.

These guys are the best When they say it is cause they care - it really is cause they care

I am glad that you found another safer way also. Oh, and if you had asked the question prior to doing it, I am sure a safe way would have been found, helpfully and in their usual friendly mannner.
