Adjusting a brake pedal

After reading one of the other posts on brakes and return springs it reminded me of a question I had about adjusting one of brake pedals. On a 58 Cub, the right brake pedal is down about 1-1/2" from the left pedal. Will adjusting the linkage arm take care of this or is a stiffer spring required? Is this an indicator of something more involved?

I'm guessing if you can pull it up with your hand, and you're satisfied with the braking ability you have now, a return spring would do, and if you can't pull it up or you are not satisfied with your braking ability, then the linkage needs to be adjusted...

If you mean it is down further whne you push the brakes down, adjusting the linkage should take care of it unless the band is worn. If they both take hold at the same place, but one doesn't return as far as the other , but can be pulled up by hand, then the shaft may be binding and a heavier spring needed. If it is lower when released and when depressed adjusting the linkage should help.
