it's a distributor ---- DUMMY

I was checking the time on a neighbors cub by holding the coil wire next to the block and turning the crank and discovered it was slow. My timing light went bad several years ago, and since all my tractors are magneto fired I never replaced it. My ohm meter was at the house (about 1/2 mile), so I thought I'd just set it by setting the cub on TDC and advancing the distributer until it fired. Then I turned it over with the crank checking to see if it fired at top dead center. both times it was firing aobut 20 degrees early. Finally I gave up and headed to the house to get my ohmeter. About half way back an Idea hit me. IT'S A DISTIBUTOR, NOT A MAGNETO, YOU TURN IT THE OTHER WAY TO ADVANCE IT DUMMY
