Add lights, hydraulic lift, front and rear weights and drawbar etc say $800
$7206.55 in 2003. I may have that in mine as I replaced everything that would not pass for new.

That works for a dollar to dollar comparison, but I wonder what it would be if you figured the percentage of average persons wages in 1947, and used the same percentage for average wages now.

My Dad told me he made about $38 dollars a week before he was drafted in 1942 as a manager of a grocery store.Seems to me it would have to ask for a loan for that kind of money.

I would think one of the .gov web sites could provide 1947 wage comparisons to today's. But....... you would need an industry that's still U.S. based and still turning out the same product.
i.e. automotive, but the list is short, since we are evolving into a service economy. What would be nice is to have someone from the Farmall/IH marketing dept. still around with data. They knew what it took for their target market to come up with $545.00. Wouldn't you think?
