Regulator

Postby cccub » Thu Nov 04, 2004 10:54 pm

I know this may get deep in a hurry :!: :!:

I ham having charging problem on my 64 cub. Have followed the generator troubleshooting flow chart. when doing step 3 found that when junpwe is put on the Bat to Gen terminal the amp meter will jump every once and a while to the charge side but stayes on the discharge side most of the time.

Now here is the question :?: :?:

I have a old regulator that have already taken off the tractor. have looked at it and can see that is is basicaly two relays that work together to sence the voltage and change there operation when the voltage is high or low.

Can anyone give the correct discription of operation so this be used in troubleshooting this kind of problem.

Take a look at this article and see if it explains what you need to know. Have you looked at the generator brushes?

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Great. I don't know why it didn't show. I have had that happen a couple of times. First time i look it isn't there but later it is.

Thanks again BIGDOG for your help again, You have given a lot of information on problems that other post have ask about and I have had the same problem.

I am just glad that you are in Ohio and the Cub owners in South Carolina have not seen your tracks down here looking for cubs.
