Need some expert advise !

Postby countershaft » Sun Nov 14, 2004 10:05 am

I know the basic principals of the 1 point hitch ( fast) and what they look like, but I'm puzzled with how the 3 point hitch looks and how they operate. Any one help me out . A picture is worth a "thousand words", they say .

Countershaft - as the name implies, a 3 point hitch attaches the tractor to the implement at 3 points as opposed to 1 like the single point fast hitch. It is a common style hitch used by most all of the compact tractor manufacturers of today and also in the past. 3 point hitch implements are commonplace and readily available. There are different "catagories" of 3 point hitches which divides them according to size. 3 points are also common on much larger tractors. The link will show you Worksaver's version of the 3 point hitch for the cub.

This is by no means a full description of the 3 point hitch but I hope the information helps.

To understand the 3 point hitch system, one needs to read up on Harry Ferguson - who created the whole thing.

Here are a few places to spend some time on:

Harry Ferguson "The Man and The Machine"

The Ferguson Family Museum

Unofficial Harry Ferguson Page

and the google search string Harry Ferguson

I have a printout of the worksaver HK-95 rear hitch, it's after market. What I would like to see is the real thing on a tractor, if thats possible.

The yellow part would be on the tractor and the white part is on the implement.
