Farmall Cub

What if I was to want one of those really neat electric tach/hour meter deals? Am I dreaming? Can they be found? How much am I looking at? Does anyone have one they want to sell?

I have 2 of them, both new old stock.
I might part with one but they are very pricey.
I have bought tractors cheaper.

Was there something I might have miised here? Was there a post where someone or supplier have some meters?

I think I saw where George of one of our Jim's have a mechanical or analog type driven by a cable upto the Dist. housing. But I never thought of an electrical style.

Mike S, (or anyone else) do you by chance have a picture of one of the two you have? The way I read your reply, "new-old stock" did IH make something electrical for the Cubs?

I am more so wanting a hour meter, just for oil changes and such. Stewart-Warner has some regular universal type hour meter only, but the one's I saw was rather big and bulky looking AND they weren't cheap either.

I never go by the hour meter on my tractors as to when I change the oil.
The work tractors get the oil changed twice a year and all of the show tractors once a year. Saturday is the big day here for oil changes and stabil in the gas. We should do about 20 on saturday and another 20 or so on sunday.

40 tractors? oh my! I bet O.P.E.C. loves you I bet you get tied of that real quick.

I like having hour meters, just mainly for reminding me how time FLIES by. I have never really gone by a "set" schedule and when I do have an hour meter and the manual says 50 hours, I'll usually cut that into half.

And like you know that's just a guess on their part. Depending on how they are used and what conditions they are used in. My whole problem is I loose total track of time. You would think with just the one tractor and the JD-318 now, I could remember them two items.

An hour meter would be a good thing, with my poor memory.

Don't know if that's what he wants or not, but I've seen several posts on YTMAG and redpowermagazine to be very careful dealing with Denny's carb shop. Parts not shipped, refusing to replace defective parts, overcharging, etc. Never had any dealings with them myself, so I can't personally verify whether they are good to deal with or not.

Thanks for all the replies. There is a picture in the Farmall cub book that shows the hour meter and the caption says it is electric. It is also shown in the owners manual. Is is t electric or mecanical? Are there both types?

Hour meter is electric. Tach (with an hour meter) is mechanical.
