I have inherited a 1948 Cub. It has a generator, magneto and a cutout relay. I have checked all the manuals I can find and cannot find a wiring diagram for this combinitation. IH parts manual TC37F Revision 1 doesn't show it. I also saw on another page to just replace the relay with a regulator. I would rather leave the tractor the way it is. Can any one help me

cleancomputes.com/Cub The Cub owners manual (Operation Maintenance Lubrication) page 33 and 34 has wiring diagrams for the tractor.
I have an original Cub owners manual that has 6 pages of wiring diagrams for the Cub. Printed 6-12-67.

Thanks, I think from the two of these I can work it out. They always seem to leave out the magneto to on/off switch. Now, I have found several folks on the web that manufacture wiring harnessess. Do either of you know of a good dealer?

The magneto on/off circuit is not considered part of the electrical system, so they don't include it in most diagrams. You won't find it as a part of most wiring harnesses. It normally is a seperate unit.

Do you gusy make your own or have you used a manufactured harness? Oem wants 76.00 and ytmag has them for around 30.00; any opinions? What gauge wire should I use to rewire it myself? Does anyone have the right color for each of the individual wires? Thanks

If you are doing a restoration and looking for authenticity, consider purchasing a good reproduction harness with wireloom. If your concern is functionality rather than appearance you can easily make your own for a lot less money. I'd run #10 wire for the charging circuit and # 14 for everything else. You can duplicate correct colors if you feel the need. If not, you can use one or two colors. Just run one wire at a time completing connections at both ends and bundling loosely as you go. Then snug everything together when you complete the runs.

The ignition cable became part of the main harness loom when IH went to Regulators and battery ign in 1953.
