Farmall Cub

I acquired my dad's 1955 Cub as part of his estate and am trying to determine a fair value. My neighbor is interesting in buying it, but will not make an offer. The tractor is in good running condition and the hydraulics work fine. It still has original paint, so certainly could use paint work. I am located in North Georgia--any ideas on ballpark price?

Are you selling the tractor alone or with implements? Does it have a fast hitch or drawbar? Original paint is good. It doesn't have to be all painted up to be worth more. I'd rather buy one in it's original condition anytime. If you can post a picture, it will also help determine a value.

[size=18]DON'T DO SOMETHING NOW THAT YOU MIGHT REGRET LATER!![/size] If your father had this tractor for a very long time, like maybe since it was new, you might want to give considerable thought to selling it. They are usually very hard to retrieve once sold to a stranger.
I have my father's 1955 cub that was purchased when I was 8 years old. I had an auction 2 years ago selling most everything I owned, but the 1955 cub and it's original equipment was not for sale. I would have a very hard time selling this tractor for any amount of money.
If you don't change your mind these tractors can bring $1500 to $3000 depending on the area of the country the tractor is located.[/b]

Had a friend, origional owner of a 58 cub. He was disapointed when I told him from what i see he could get between 1200 & 3000 according to how and where he sold it. I said Frank what did you pay for it. He said $585. My next coment was well.

Watched a lowboy with belly mower sell for $1250.oo on RFD tv. I purchased a Cub with sickle bar mower and plow for $700.00 this past summer.

I recommend you keep the tractor. In a few years you can have the kids and grandkids drive grandpaw's or great grandpaw's old tractor.

For what it's worth, I'd agree with Dan Robertson and Eugene about giving some thought to keeping your father's tractor. I have my father's 1955, which he bought new and enjoyed very much. The tractor and I are the same vintage. Working on restoring the tractor over the past couple of months has made me feel closer to him than I have since he passed away 30 years ago. There isn't any amount of money that would make me part with the tractor, certainly not 3k. Some things you can't put a price tag on. I hope my son will feel the same way some day.

A '55 Cub, whatever the market will bring, if it was my fathers it would be priceless.

I'm working on my grandfather's 1936 WC Allis Chalmers. I have way more money in the tractor then it will sell for. This past summer my father visited. I took him to the shop and started the tractor. You should have seen his reaction. Well worth every dollar spent.

I have two grand daughters, fifth generation. In a few more years they will be able to drive their great great grand father's tractor.
