Farmall Cub

Nice brisk day today (17F and windy) so i thought I'd go down to the shed and make sure the old 48 was ready for the snow they are predicting later this week. Opened the throttle, turned on the switch, pulled the choke, pulled the starter rod, nothing! After doing some checking I realized that when I put the new battery on it about 3 weeks ago I had left the lights on dim. Highest temperature in the last 2 days was 20F and I figured the battery would be frozen. Luckily it wasn't, and after setting on the charger a while it started right up. Now I'm ready. Painted Rick's custom step last week and hung it on the cub while I was there. It works great. The only problem I can see is keeping someone from stealing it at a show. I didn't used to worry about things like that, but after a couple of episodes I've seen lately I am more cautious.

I posted it intending to show off Rick's step after I painted it, but it doesn't show too well. The black nonskid paint on the tread kind of camoflages it in the shadows.

Oo`Wee, Looks like a real fun trick just getting into that contraption. Aint no room for a trapeze swing in that tent but maybe some of those little-peoples from the circus that squeeze 20 of their ilk into a kiddy-car would have fun with a midget packing contest with your snow-cab.

Country, it fits loose at the bottom, and there is about a half inch gap between the side panels and the top so there is enough cirdulation to keep it from fogging up. Drove part way into the shed before I remembered to lower it this afternoon, and bent one of the umbrella stays. I never claimed to be very bright. forecast is 3 to 6 inches of snow for my area Wednesday, more south.

That sounds about like the way my luck goes around here too, BUT at least it's never anything to serious. If just having a dead battery is the worse we have to ecounter in life, wouldn't that be GREAT Been there, done that!
You know what? I bet you will remember that everytime you park your tractor from now on, it will be on your mind.
I have a 1954 Chevrolet 1 ton dumping flatbed grain truck (below), that I drive a lot and I have been SO spoiled on my newer Silverado with it's automatic headlight system, that I have found myself several times forgetting to turn off the lights on the 54, lol!

John, Thats a nice looking 54 dump you got there. Maybe you ought to buy one of those automatic light turner off,er switches so your memory can compete with your Silverado.

John, I don't know if they are still available, but J.C. Whitney used to sell a head light reminder for about $4.00 that wired to a head light wire and ignintion wire and if you turned off the ignition while the lights were on it beeped. may be able to find them through Orielly or Autozone.

Looks like your ready John! Got the blade on Maxine but haven't put the chains on yet, that will be tomarrows project after work. Looks like you'll be gettin' a few more inches than me. I'm in the 1-3" zone and it looks like your in the 3-6" zone. I'm still trying to get the hang of this digital camera so I can post some pics. Got my C-3 deck apart, sand blasted and primed. Might be awhile before it gets painted as my shop has no heat.

Nice looking rig for sure. I gotta get me one of those steps, it's along way up to that platform, and we're not getting any younger.
Been pushin' snow up north for awhile now. I'd say we've had about 24" of white so far this year. I changed my oil and filter this morning and went out to clean off about 4" from our skating rink. Runnin' like a real champ
It's a real sweet job pushin' snow on that nice flat ice surface. 120' X 45'. I still have to scrape by hand after but it works great for getting the big stuff off.
