Now if I could just figure out how to hook one of those tachs up with a mag? :?

John why will this not work on a mag? Dow does the drive differ with a distributor?

The drive for the mechanical tach is built into the distributor. It isn't on the early distributors either, only after serial 192113.

A tractor that has been backfit from a magneto to battery ignition could have been equiped with either style battery ignition.

This is a distributor housing with the drive (covered by plate). More pictures or on TM Tractors site.
