Implement Colors?

Postby sviennadan » Mon Dec 27, 2004 4:27 pm

Just a quick historical question - Why are some of the Cub implements painted blue instead of Farmall Red?

I believe blue was used as a selling point in that they made the matched implements look good hanging on a Cub.

They definitley look good that way. Taht's the reason I asked bud to paint my hand lift blue when he rebuilt Missy for me.

I read it or heard somewhere that if you got the implements from the factory they were red. If you bought them from a dealer they were blue. If George or Jim are out there maybe thay can confirm or shoot this theory to he_ _.
Always try the easiest thing first.

I think it had more to do with year than origination. When I was deciding on what colors for my hand lift on Missy one of the members found the Ih paint decisions on colors. The hand lift origianlly came off my 48 and blue was the correct color, but Missy was a mid 49 and was bordreline on when they made the change. I decided to go with blue, since I like the looks.

I heard it was patriotic, the good old red white and blue. Acuatally the white was kind of ivory.

Cub Implements were Blue, Red, IH "polar bear white", white, yellow and combinations of most of them.
Many of the implements cam in a range of colors depending on year etc....

I know I confused this even further.

Older F/H plows were Red/Blue, and later ones were creame/black. my disk was red and rust(mostly rust), now cream/black as is my moldboard. All other impliments will be painted that way because I like it that way. Makes them look like late model equipment.
