Dist. cap question
I found my distributor full of water the other day after heavy rain. I noticed there is a small hole in the top side of the cap. Is this normal? Thanks for any info. 66 low boy Chris

Here is the link on how to time your Dist to the Cub. Pull the pages before and after to get the whole story. I find that I have to enlarge the pages when I print them to read them better. Tired old eyes.

If the cap is lined up with the notch, and the cap wasn't manufactures wrong, the distributor needs to be turned 180 degrees and retimed. The hole marked 1 (# 1 plug) should be at about the 1 oclock position. Also the connection going to the coil should be at aobut the 4 or 5 oclock position.

What's your Cub doing outside in a heavy rain? The little gem should be safely parked in your living room!
Seriously, the other guys are right. I'll bet that the connection for the wire to the points is facing the engine...it should be facing the outside. Remove your distributor, rotate it 180 degrees and retime it.
Or maybe just drill another hole and save the trouble? LOL!

Sorry aobut that, I meant the wire that goes from the terminal on the coil to the stud on the distributor where the points connect.beaconlight wrote:John i don't get what you are driving at. The one going to the coil is in the center no matter how the rest are.
