1953 Cub recent purchase. When I got it the touch control pump and lines were removed and both areas blocked off with plates. I have the pump and the lines and am planning on a reinstallation to figure out if it works or leaks or that there was a reason why it was removed. I am starting with the pump that I split in two to make sure that there wasn't any dirt or debris inside. In between the 2 gears on one side of them was a black blob of plastic. I removed it as it looked more like RTV that got into the system and lodged there than a machined part. I see a part called a bearing seal pin. #10 on most parts illustrations from IH. Is this what I removed? Was it really plastic? Do I need it? Can I gt it?

this "How to" covers the parts very well in the rebuild
Sounds like an O ring remains/scrap in there to me

The link I posted should take you right to the topic on the pump rebuild.
Sounds like you are off to a great start in fixing the issue!

It looks like I can rebuild from that great post. I do however see a part as a bearing seal pin. Because it is installed it is hard to make out what it looks like but is a part and mine was damaged. I assume that that seal and gasket kit is available and should include that pin

TM tractor is a site sponsor and have great service and reasonable prices
http://www.tmtractor.com/new/hy/288fp.htmhere is the kit, no key/pin though
maybe Case IH sells the pin, not sure

If you look at TM's picture of the kit, that little black dot towards the bottom is the pin.
Depending on which version of the pump you have, it may not use the bushing seal pin.

When new, the seal looks like a miniature hockey puck. Yes, you need it. No, you can't buy it seperately. You'll need to buy the whole pump rebuild kit. Might as well do the whole job while you have it split.

Dan,
Your chances of finding just the drive gear are pretty slim. Your best bet will be to look for a reasonably priced used pump. Post a "wanted" ad here and keep an eye out on eBay.

Is it the drive gear off the front of the hydraulic pump? If you need one of the gears inside the pump, then you need to purchase a complete hydraulic pump. In any event, you can advertise in the for sale/wanted section of this site.

About 10 years ago I priced just the drive gear at my local Case-IH dealership. I seem to recall them wanting around $135 for one back then.

Did your gear get all chewed up or is it missing (as in came off the shaft)...
