Horn

Postby Rudi » Fri Jan 28, 2005 10:20 am

Guys:

George, Jim, anybody know if there was horn available as an option for a Cub.

Also, here is one for sale on eBay: Horn, and I was wondering if it would be worth bidding on.

If not, what would one suggest to use as a horn.

George, do you not have a horn on one of your cubs??

Rudi,

My tricycle Cub has two horns... an old 6 volt truck horn and a Bombay Taxi horn (squeeze bulb). I also have a 12 volt truck horn added to the golf cart.

Be sure you look for a 6 volt horn. Most any can be mounted inconspiculously under the platform. I'd like to find a Klaxon reasonable. (oogah)

I doubt they were ever an option.

Was kind of curious.

I saw a horn on a later model cub, 70 something. It was at a dealership. I looked at it carefully and it looked stock. It had clips than ran down the stearing support, Dont think you could make them so i though it was original. It did look like the one on ebay. The prob was it just the button was there, the horn itself was missing.

My 1971 Cub manual lists a horn as an option.

I have a 6V Klaxon I successfully ebayed for several months ago. I plan on putting it on one of my tractors; '45 B Farmall may get it.

I have an antique trolley car bell which I bought at a flea market mounted under the floorboard. There are four bolts holding it to the pan and a center-mounted plunger which you step on to operate, similar to a Bermuda bell. People love it.

J. C. Whitney once carried a large selection of 6V horns. Including klaxtons.

Best,
Mike

Jim;

Thanks, I thought that there was an option available in the later models but wasn't sure.

Be nice to find an original.

I guess the one that was listed went for a nice price. Question though - was it an IH horn or something else? How would one tell without actually looking at a part number?
