Wedge clampsI am in need of some wedge clamps for my cultivator and found some at Agri supply. Has anyone had any experience with these or should I try to find some good used ones. Agri supply sells them plus bolts for $19 plus frt. http://mower-blades.agrisupply.com/sear ... t&asug=wed

Re: Wedge clampsI've bought them and have had no trouble thus far, BUT I found that they are made in China; and really don't like that fact. I have been rethreading old ones and reusing them since. I believe someone on here, or on Ebay will have some good originals even if you have to chase the threads on the bolts. They will be original IH, and not made in China. Otherwise, those aftermarket ones from Agri-Supply worked fine for me. Hope this helps.
Re: Wedge clampsthey also worked fine for me. They were a bit large for some of the larger shanks and I had to grind down some of them.

Re: Wedge clampsI had problems with threads breaking off wedge. I'll admit i'm a little heavy handed when tightening ,due from cutting tire when plow fell off once. Since my first purchase, I have used the agrisupply ones with no problem. I just make sure I beat he wedge downa little and tighten and repeat until tight. They seem to work fine but do not fit bar as well as my old IH ones do.
Re: Wedge clamps
Try whacking the end of the wedge while pulling on the wrench (like the manual says!).
Re: Wedge clampsI haven't used the wedge bolts, bit other things I have gotten from them, are serviceable. The company itself, is run by some non rocket scientists. EVERY time I order, something gets messed up, not shipped, fell out of the box. (Yes, ship 50 pounds of cast iron parts in a box, and don't add extra tape). They have always been very cooperative, replacing lost or not shipped parts. Order way ahead of the time you need the parts, to allow for two deliveries. Ed

Re: Wedge clampsThe agri supply wedges and cuffs are junk, They [ cuffs ]break if you hit a large rock in the field, the wedges will break when you try to tighten them up, the large sweeps are the worst as they have to be tighter. And we do wack em with a BFH when we put them on. By the way that is the only way to get them tight enough not to slip

Re: Wedge clampsThey will still break, Jim. I'm just saying they are not IH quality but will work. I've been around Farmalls all my life and have yet to break an IH wedge.
Re: Wedge clampsBoss' expierence should be enough to convince you. I haven't had first hand expierence with them as in workload. We just bought a couple when we were minus some on a tractor we were going to sell. I think we cultivated the garden twice with those 2 Agri-Supply cuffs and didn't have any problem; however I'm not surprised since they did say "Made in China" on them. I have a good supply of the IH ones (especially after my last double Cub purchase) now. The guy had around 30 of them hanging from baling wire in his workshop. Boy was that a nice find. And since I started re-threading the old "whacked too many times with a hammer" ones; I probably will not be buying anymore. Some things are ok to get from Agri-Supply but not everything......kind of like Harbor Freight Tools. Use your best judgement.
Re: Wedge clampsMy post about clamps and other stuff got moved to "other tractors", which in retrospect does make sense. However I AM curious about the Ferguson Cub clamps --
Anybody tried these wedge bolt clamps, http://www.fergusonmfgco.com/Toolbar&accessories.htm? Perhaps they're the exact same product as from Agrisupply. -David
Re: Wedge clamps
If they make their own, I would guess the quality would be good. We have a Ferguson chisel plow on the farm and have never had problems with it. Al "12 volt conversions are for quitters"
IH's are RED. Just say NO to yellow and white! Let us pray for farmers and all who prepare the soil for planting, that the seeds they sow may lead to a bountiful harvest.
Re: Wedge clampsI just got off the phone with them, actually. They do make them there. Price is almost twice as much as Agrisupply, but I imagine better quality.
Re: Wedge clampsfound some at CT farm and country

Re: Wedge clampsAgri supply sells two types, the cheaper chinise are junk, they sell for $8.99 a nice one made in turkey and the wedge bolt for $3.99, big diff over the chinise crap

Re: Wedge clampsI've had limited experiance with Agri-Supply. Who ever fills there orders must be pretty simple minded or overworked. I've places two orders with them over the years and they were both messed up. In one order they shipped some incorrect parts, in another they shipped some things twice?? Go figure.
