Postby Charles (49) Mo » Thu Feb 03, 2005 5:24 pm

Is it screwed in the block or pressed in?

Chuck,

The pointer is pressed in.

Should be easy to remove.

The base is buried under a lot of paint and I didn't want to break it.

Are you planning on removing it, if so I would consider how to reinstall it before removal. Its probably best removed with a punch from the rear of the cover. And since its obviously a pointer without a special tool it may be hard to reinstall and retain a point if you know what I mean. Thats why I never removed mine.

I remove the pointer with a pair of vise grips. I use a small socket that will almost fit over the pointer and tap into the cover with a hammer. 8)
