Nonajustable front Axle

Postby Jason » Mon Feb 14, 2005 12:19 pm

Hello everyone, I have been reading post on the forum for some time now. I have never seen or heard anyone talk about a nonajustable front axle. Is a rare option?

Wouldn't say rare so much as "uncommon".

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that!

I don't know about the later ones, but I believe that on the early ones the adjustable axle was an option with the non adjustable being standard, however most of them were shipped with the adjustable one anyway. I suspect the price difference was minimal.

I had the adjustable kind, but when I damaged my Cub this summer was only able to find the non to replace.

In relative terms, they are probably more common on Lo-Boys than on Farmalls.

As "John" Said, I ken Updikes book, it was an option, for the adjustable. But as Jim said ,all the none adjustable that i've seen have been on lowboys, "Jack" Except for George W's.

The one George W has came from my 49 burn victim. It was a standard cub, but after the fire it was about the same height as a lowboy.

My Stubby has an adjustable axle, whether it is original or not, I'll probably never know.

56' Lo-Boy adjustable axle. Deluxe seat, so comfy I once fell asleep while cutting grass, twice. :)):

is about a 1950 standard cub, and has not only the adjustable front axle, but also has TWO oiling holes in the hood. :D 8) And, from what I've seen by looking closely, there isn't any dielectric grease in there either. :) 8) It is also minus the fine dried possum.
