A fast hitch latch question

I've been talking to Josh about fast hitches and wondered if anyone has an idea when IH decided to change their latch on the fasthitch. I thought maybe they made the switch when they went from lever to crank on the depth adjuster, but that didn't pan out. Here's the latch in question:

You'll notice the top pic is the first type with a continuous loop and the second pic shows the later type without a loop. Just curious what style latch everyone has and a ballpark year.

Thanks,
Rick

My 63 has the loop, would not want one without it. Nylon rope from loop to seat back, can change impliments without getting off tractor. Other part of equasion (sp?) is wrench to push latch down from seat, lol.

Rick,
My '57 has the closed loop.
The 1964 Farmall Cub we had used the open loop.
The '57 Loboy we had was missing the latch however Don Eicher had a closed loop that I bought on ebay.

The closed loop style appears to be a casting whereas the open loop is a fabricated part.

I don't have any infor on when the change but both fasthitches I have are equipped with the loop. I remember our Farmall 200 came with the loop type latches and also a handle that was basically a continusous loop of round rod. It has a rectangular handle on the ooerator end and a hook on the other so the driver could latch and unlatch from the seat. I have patterened some for my CUBs just like it and keep it stored beside the gearshift and battery box. Works out very well. The only drawback with a rope that I know of is it could get tangled up with something else and jerk the driver.

It's a somewhat different animal but our '57 230 has the hooks.

Rick, my '56 Cub, '57 Cub (Rusty), and '60 Lo-Boy all have the closed loop type. Actually I have never seen (or noticed  ) the open loop or hook type. :big give up:

My son has a 55 stored in my barn, has a round latch. Do not know if it is original.

Don't know for sure but I think the larger tractors used the hook style. I can't remember but I was thinking our 560 had the hook style and that would have been 58 - 59 time frame. It could be that all replacements are now that style.
