Engine Problems

Postby sviennadan » Sat Mar 19, 2005 12:50 pm

Got the Cub out and was discing a field this morning, when she quit running. This is the first I've had her out this season, although I had it running with no load for a couple of hours a week or so ago. Seems like it's not getting enough gas. It's probably the fuel bowl screen or the main carb jets clogged, but I cleaned all of those last summer. Would they have fouled this quickly? I've probably only got a couple of dozen hours on it since cleaning.

I'd guess it was tank residue floating around in your gas tank.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Crud also accumulates in the fuel line. Check the screen at the fuel inlet on the carb, if there's one actually there. Otherwise, it will collect on the bottom of the bowl if it makes it thru the needle valve.

Mine did the same until I bought some TANK LINER. It not only gets rid of the rust and crud but lines the tank so it can not rust again. It's available at most outdoor equipment stores; EASTWOOD also makes it. CubFan. :D
