Happy lady

Postby George Willer » Fri Mar 25, 2005 10:11 pm

The new ZTR was delivered yesterday. Marilyn has never mowed a blade of grass in her life, but she's looking forward to this year. She'll have these 3 1/2 acres to practice on. My tractors with mowers will have all year to rest up... all 13 of them while I'm recuperating.

Hope you can get on your cub soon looks like Marilyn will have fun. Be carfull on slopes with wet grass. I do not know if you have any hills but those will climb farily well with the weight on the rear tires but when it is pointing down hill it will slide. I haven't used the toro but the X-mark which is basicly the same we tried out on a landfill and had to send it back. It could just handle a 1 on 4 slope it would go up a 1 on 3 but slide down. A inch of mud and the cub will be pulling it out. They are good fun and cut very well. I would not put a cub on a 1 on 3 and be nervous on a 1 on 4. But as always safty is knowing what you can do and can not do. I have limited experance with them and want you to know my experance so you judge what you have and be safe.

ps very dry clay can be almost not quite as slippery as as wet.

GW wife mowed with my JD 140 but when I got the Toro 24HP Zero Turn 60 inch cut without a steering wheel she refused to get on it at all. I will never buy another lawn mower unless wife can try it out on her yard first. Don't let her get hurt on slopes. It will get away from you real fast. I knew a fellow who got on one of them for the first time and got tangled up in which way to move the steering levers and while trying to keep from falling off he got both levers up his shirt sleeves and the mower flogged his car before he could stop it.

Really sharp! Marilyn can wear pearls and heels while cutting the grass and not scuff her manicure. She'll be the best looking gardener in the neighborhood.

George,

 Let her practice way out away from everything! A friend of mine bought one last year and I got on and took off. Came about 3 feet from going into the pond. They take a little getting used to! They sure make short work of mowing the lawn. I think he said the top speed on his was about 10mph.

Not too much risk on that. The USGS mapped George's whole neighborhood and only used up 2 topo lines.

George:

She sure does look happy :D I don't even want to think of what that would cost me here :!:  Course, I am not sure that it would be able to do the hillside that I have to mow.

Sure is a nice mower though!

Hope you are feeling better and that you might be able to surprise the Doc's yet. Fingers are crossed and our prayers are with you :!:

George - I am sure she can handle it without any problems.
Just like driving a tank or APC
the main difference is that they don't break 'over center' like a tracked vehicle!
Best of luck and behave yourself during the recovery!
One of the few advantages of growing older is that I finally realized that I haven't made ALL the stupid mistakes! Yet!
