Can someone confirm that the original size of a cub brake drum is 4.5 in?
One of mine was so bad that I have had to turn it down to 4.38 in. to get the scores out. Any thoughts on whether it will adjust up with a new band?
Thanks,

i would think that .12 or 1/8 inch loss in diameter might be too much to allow the brake drum to tighten....

Jack,
Too bad you turned it down smaller. I would look for a replacement and not worry about any scores. Contrary to what many think, the scores don't have any effect on how the brakes work... unless they get very hot as they may on a car. The explanation of why that is so would be lengthy.

Brake Drum
Thanks all for the help. It is going back together with a replacement drum. Original failure was caused by both anchor pins coming part way out allowing the brake band to tilt, which gouged the drum.
