cub heads

i was cleaning up this head today and the casting code is 6-20-W but it appears to have been yellow originally. is there a relief in the heads of the 154 and 184 tractors for high dome pistons? anything on the casting to indicate the higher hp engine? the yellow threw me a little and i started thinking maybe the head was from the mid 70's.

Art,

I can't tell you why it was yellow, but the casting code indicates 1951. Maybe it was from a roadside mowing tractor.

W came around again in '73. You need to check the part number against the ones in the arts Catalog.

there is no part number on this head. the area where i think it should be - between the gooseneck outlet and the date code is flat - no part #.
but i thought the 184 and 154 used a piston that required head relief.

so i guess this head is a 51, and the reason it's yellow is as George said.. road work.
