New to me Lo-Boy

Postby ricky racer » Mon Jun 25, 2012 8:49 pm

As some of you are aware, last Saturday I purchased a Lo-Boy (1961) with a belly mower, I think it's a Woods, and a grader & leveling blade. The price was right and the tractor is pretty straight but as usual, it has some issues that need addressed. The Cub looks better in the pictures than it does in person. It was originally yellow but painted red at some point using a brush. Most of it doesn't look too bad but there is enough yellow showing to make it look kind of tacky.

The grader blade is in pretty good condition and is complete with everything including the cast IH square blocks the insert into the bolster and the boomerang bracket.

Unloading the grader blade was painless using my Cheap & Dirty lift boom.

I've had a little time to work on the Cub the last few days. When I first got it, it didn't seem to be happy at any throttle setting and it was hard to maintain a steady throttle. A little governor/ carb linkage adjustment seemed to do the trick. It is now the nicest running Cub I've ever bought!! :{_}: Tonight I got the lights working. I could use a RH headlight bezel (ring) and a steering support bushing to replace mine that is wallowed out pretty bad. If you've either item for sale let me know.

The mower deck is kind of rough and I may end up reskining it. It will require more work than the tractor. but should work well when I get it done.

When I get it all done I'll probably sell it to generate a few more funds for future Cub projects.

Nice LoBoy. I was thinking before I read the post that the tractor was once yellow. The black background on the International badge gives it away. The mower is a Danco C3.
