I agree...it is sad...I definately got a little misty eyed looking at the stuff to be auctioned. I wish his friends from the forum got first dibs. And I hope his family is doing ok.

Of course it's sad to see, but it is the best way to get the value out of George's stuff. Hopefully smart buyers with large rolls of green are in attendance. There is surely some very special Cubs and parts that are in the auction.

I just heard about GW, with me not being around here lately. May he RIP, Godbless, my thoughts and prayers go out for him and his family.

Its good to see his stuff going to good homes, its really the passing of the torch now too. We greive, then move on. Its how life is. All of a sudden were the old timers here and in our families.

I once heard that Red Skelton always started his personal appearances at odd times so that people would remember the correct time.

And when they say they will start at 7 min. past, they don't mean 8 min. past. I think the odd start time is a way of telling people they will be prompt. Anyway, it always told me that and they've always been that. Bill's right, this is one of the best auction services that I know of.

Thanks Phil,,,I expect to be there,,,though it is bittersweet..I'm glad to have got to know George just a little..A great guy to sit by a fire with and pass a evening..Or just hang out with..Even the last time I saw him..he was probally a lot sharper then me...Kevin

Several people at Cubarama this weekend who remember George from past events saw the button on my hat that Steve gave out at CI Cubfest this year and asked how he was doing. Unfortunately I was the bearer of bad news and told them of his passing. They all had fond memories of George and said they missed seeing him at Cubarama the last few years.

Since I don’t get on the forum that often, I had no idea George past on until I read this.

To my knowledge the only Cubarama George attended was the first one. I’ll never forget that was the first time we met after years of communicating electronically. We talked and had a few adult beverages and then we went to as George called it; “the most organized tractor salvage yard in the world”. After that George and I came back and had a few more adult beverages until we closed up shop. A few years ago George sent me an e-mail and told me about he was going to go through some test, but didn’t really get into particulars. After that because of being so busy I lost contact with him.

Sorrowfully to say now; every time I visited my Aunt in Toledo I never had time to get over to Fremont for a visit.

I would think it would be hard for the family to see his tractors auctioned off. I am surprised they are not keeping any of them. It should be an interesting auction to watch.

Thanks to this great forum they will all go to good homes. Yea SCRUFFY just to have it would be cool.

It was George's wish to see the Cubs in his Collection go to good homes that would appreciate them.
