I completely agree with Bill (GITractorMan)! I needed some yeller rattle can paint to finish my sandblasted fast hitch and bought a can of Valspar at TSC. In all the painting I have done on Cubs (two nearly completely with rattle can IronGuard) I couldn't believe that in one session I would see alligators, runs, sags, essentially every problem possible. When I finished painting it was dull and took forever to dry. When I got my first Cub I was a total rookie about painting metal..... That Cub (Rufus) still looks good.

Ironguard, both rattle can and quarts, is great stuff. I just painted rear rims with 1111B (silver) and a foam brush (USA!). Before I was done with the second one the first was dry enough to handle.

If I ever locate the brass stencil kit I may use the rest of that Valspar yeller to paint my address on the garbage cans, about the only use I can think of for it. Are you guys really trying to find that suff???

Barnyard, I believe that Van Sickle makes the paint for CaseIH. Doubt it is the same 'formula', but seemed to be decent paint.

Agree. I haven't learned how to use a spray gun yet but based on the quality of their spray cans, I can't imagine using anything else.

Wow, if you guys hate the Valspar so much, I can't imagine how you'll feel after you try the new Majic brand.

Matt, I think most of the guys are more in favor of Valspar and are rapping on TSC's replacement.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I stopped by TSC when I was Cub expressing (and hiding from the heat and humidity in the truck) and did buy one rattle can of gloss black. Guess I could shoot a coat on the deluxe seat frame to test it out?? Perfect weather for it.

I just left TSC (Thanks Roxanne for the bag full of TSC hats for the Cubfest) and we were talking bout the Majic paint. She pulled up on her computer a press release (Bio) on the paint. Seems it is a new formulation for them (they have been around since the 1920's) to comply with some new federal standards. They are using soy bean oil as their base. The info also stated that it required 24hrs of dry time.

I also stopped at my IH dealer to check out Ironguard in spray cans. Their first run (top of the line) paint is about $17 a can. (Thanks Mountain Farm Home Case IH for the door prizes you provided)

I have painted within the last month, 2 cub parts side by side with Majic and the Case/IH 2150 Iron guard,(That came in a box marked Valspar.), and the Majic paint is not the same color. It looks lighter, almost a pink twinge to it compared to the 2150......and took forever to dry....as everyone else is saying.

Do it Best hardwares carry the Valspar paint still. Yes it's quite slow to dry but so far I've been happy with it.

Majic's website calls out hardener and catalyst....maybe their paint doesn't like to be applied without them....

I've done some poking around and the CaseIH paint is made by VALSPAR.

A few years ago, I had an older car repainted at one of the chain paint shops, not Maaco. They used a Valspar product on mine. Not an exceptionally good color match, but acceptable. Durable for 3-4 years of constant weather exposure.
I wonder if the new paints discussed above had to be reformulated to conform to some revised EPA regulations.

I have used the Van Sickle paint and like it a lot. You can add hardener to it and it is close to any good automotive enamal paint. They have the Farmall red, and the bule for some of the implements. Good stuff..........
