Magneto QuestionMy Betty Lou ('50 Demo) was equipped with a magneto ignition. At some point someone added an external. Now I know its cheaper to replace a 6 volt coil, but i want to put her back to a magneto. The cover was broken on one corner. I am repairing that with JB weld. My question is this...the coil is missing, but there seems to be a coil core (#11) That I dont have. Anyone have a source for these parts that is not completely out of reach? The cover alone ive found is $70 dollars. Thats why I am repairing mine. I was just curious.

Re: Magneto QuestionThose parts are available through TM tractor parts on their website.

Re: Magneto Question
I would appreciate that. Thanks Cecil. The older I get, the younger I was.
Re: Magneto QuestionI have another question. What exactly is connected to the terminal inside the coil cover that goes to the center wire? Looking at the.coil, im assuming the lead, which has a ring terminal, goes to the stud and is connected to the kill switch. How is the spark getti.g from the coil to the terminal?

Re: Magneto QuestionThe coil is made with a small copper "nub" that contacts the terminal strip inside the $70 cover. And those coil cores are awfully hard to come by. You have to rob one from a magneto, I don't know of any source for those, and they look a bit difficult to make correctly. It's a shame, but many probably went missing when the owner added an external coil.
