I have no experience with a cub and a Hall effect ignition system but I would be surprised if the effect on HP or torque was more than zero for a well tuned engine. Some ignition systems give multiple sparks over time which may help although I can't see why.Pertronics may have real data from a real study that would support HP increases but I have not seen anything.

My ignition problems are with corroded points on things that sit too long which would be an advantage with the electronic ignitions systems. Not sure it is worth the cost however.

A well designed system will have reverse polarity protection, common ignition driver modules have built in reverse polarity protection, spike voltage protection, etc...

If you are working your Cubs, as am I, for me personally it is worth the $80.

I could tell a big difference in starting and felt more power when mowing with mine.

I will be putting it on my 71 model next.
