Finally working on the cub some...

Postby gcbailey » Mon Oct 08, 2012 7:40 pm

Well, I'm about 80% done.... know it's been a long time, real long time.... but the final painting and re-assembly is getting real close. Hopefully this album works, if not I'll put them on photobucket.

Does anyone have any specs or photos of what all I need or how a 12v wiring harness looks for the single wire alt conversions.

Gary:

Looking very good. Link worked for me, but I am signed in on FB. Couldn't add a comment though... one of these days I will figure it out. More importantly you seemed to have fun with the Cub project and it really shows. Good work :applause: gonna be a pretty Cub :D

I have it wired and working...it's just the old harness is junk. I need to build a new one....that's what I meant.

that should work Rudi.... was there a scheme to the wire colors or anything like that? I know the cadets had different colors in their harness. I'm not going for 100% authentic, it's got a 12v chevy alternator! haha, but I do want it to look pretty good, at least something better than the chewed on rats nest hooked on there now.

Gary,
If you look in the parts catalog, the parts listings that go with the wiring diagrams gives colors for each wire. It does not give gage for each wire. So use the callouts in the diagram Rudi posted. Since you are building a modified harness anyway, using the same colors as the original probably isn't a big deal. Be sure to use different colors though!

Brillman Co. has a great selection of cloth braided wire and asphalt loom. That where I order all my stuff. If you need me to swing by one evening just holler, or you can come by the house and take a peek at my ol' M and see how I done it. I didn't use the "correct" colors on my M, I used what I thought looked good for the wiring exposed at the lights, distributor and coil. Everything else is pretty much hid inside the loom.
