Hey Guys new to this forum so far very pleased a lot of information on this site glad i found it Any way bought a 1951 cub has a woods mower on it ? see if i got this right as far as fluids go transmission drain out old fluid from plug under transmmion then ad 3/ 1/2 pints 90 wt 2nd ? remove pans on both sides clean them up then before restall fill with 90 wt about 1 inch from top so that would take care of the back end of fluids than to steering box drain out old fluid then refill wit 90 wt so that would do it on all 90 wt oil correct. Any other advice would be great Great site Thanks for any help
On the tansmission, after draining add 3 1/2 pints of diesel fuel or kerosene and drive the tractor for about five minutes and drain it again. Then refill with 90 weight.
On the steering, make sure you clean out the fill plug breather holes.
Pick up or make a set of final drive pan gaskets before you start.

Refill to the level plug, on left side of transmission. It will take 3 1/2 pints more or less.
And when you get all of that done,grease the throwout bearing, oil the fan and generator and grease (carefully) the distributor, etc

Congrats on acquiring your first new to you Cub The Lubrication group in the McCormick Farmall Cub Owner's Manual 1950 starts on Page 18
Suggest you follow the links below as there is a lot of information/resources for our members.
I prefer to use Hy Tran in all those places (except the steering gear box). Possibly a marketing scam by IH (to sell a proprietary product) but it is listed first in the lube charts after about 1960. It is a lighter oil (closer to 30 wt) but it will take up some water.
A gallon will fill the TC and the transmission. For some reason I dislike the smell of gear oil.
It is very worthwhile to have a copy of the 'Operators Manual' and the lubrication is well covered there.
Also repack the front wheel bearings... and a flush of the cooling system is good, lots of folks use water and that will cause problems if it gets cold.
