Cub gas gauge

hi, i know i have seen this posted about on various other occasions, but cant seem to find the post anymore, does any one know where i could order one of them wooden sticks that had the diffrent levels of gas on, or does anyone know the measurements so i could simply make my own? thanks

what would work best for me would be just to know or see a picture of the measurements, because i would like to put on one side my Cub's measurements, and then on the other side my H's

Get yourself a heavy paint mixing stick at the the local hardware store and check this post for the markings. Make sure you read the entire post because there is a correction noted on one of the measurements.

This may sound like a no brainer but always wipe down your fuel stick very thoroughly. The type of dust that accumulates on a stick hanging in the barn or wherever you keep it is the type of dust that the fuel screens will not stop.

Avoid sticking foreign objects into the tank whenever possible. If you can't see it and have to stick it, it needs gas.

Very nice fuel gauge stick Barnyard!! I'm sure you can't get those anymore since that's a Cub Craft item. I wonder who made them up for Rick? I sure would like to have some made. Those are nice and handy to have, and would make a nice and inexpensive gift to Cub owners.......especially when you'd have to drain the tank when removing the hood. You would know just how much to expect to drain.

They show. up at a lot of Cub Fest' So try to make one near you.

Rick passed out a ton of those while he was in business. He provided them at cubfests and also included them at no cost in orders he shipped. If you attended a cubfest where Rick was he always had lots of them to pass out. Many cubfest hosts still have a supply of them.

How does the ink seem to withstand the fuel that gets on it? Seems like it would fade it out after a few uses.

I've been using an old wooden yardstick. Low tech. I forgot how many inches was full.

Made my own petrol guage from your post. I read your forum every night & pick up great info from you experts. Great stuff keep up the good work and I also enjoy the odd comical aside.

We have an old maple stick we picked up off the ground somewhere with a feed sack string tied to the end of it so you can hang it up. To use, take it off the nail it's hanging from, wipe off on your pants leg or shirt tail. Insert into tank. On any of our gas tractors, (Cub, Super A, 230, 424) if there's more than an inch of gas on the stick you are usually good to go.
