steering box seals

hey guys i have a 1951 Farmall Cub today i took apart steering box going to replace steering shaft seal as well as the seal in houseing along with new gaskets My ? is do i have to put 90 wt oil back in or while i have worm gear and sreering gear clean and pack with clean grease in stead of useing 90 wt oil Also i live in ky is there some place that one can take and have brakes relined TM tractor parts is about 80.00 a piece Thanks for any help great site for information

I wo0uld use gear oil the seals can be bought at NAPA, you could make the gasket, Dale Shaw is down near you he may have some used brake linings, If not I may have them

CR 11066 would be the # to ask fore on the seal for the worm shaft, any parts store should be able to cross the # for you

Well Boss, he is 220 miles north, but he is just a stones throw from Cub Brian.

Check the how to section for brake lining. Or you might pm Bob McCarty he has been relining brakes.

Yes seen Bob do a set at Cecils cubfest he does very nice work

Be sure to clean out the vent in the filler plug so it doesn't leak again after you replace the seal.
